Beachcomber: “Irish Band Performs Locally”

A New Year And A New Album On The Way

Yep! You read it right! We have just begun work on our second album! Our first release was done just a few months after we got together as a band and reflects the more traditional side of our shows, but we want to make an album that really reflects our hi-energy live shows that our fans & friends have come to love.

The new album will include mostly original songs we have been working on the past year and you may have even heard us playing a few at our live shows like “Defend the Stout” or “Everyone’s Irish Tonight”. Of course we will include a few of our favorite traditional Irish tunes on the album as well really do cherish the culture and history that surrounds this Irish music genre.

Look for a sampler to come along soon!

Video, Video, & MORE Video!

irish tonightIt has been one hell of a summer! We stayed local, playing all our favorite Long Beach venues, Auld Dubliner, Gallagher’s, and Shenanigan’s, which has kept us damn busy!

Finally got around to editing a MASSIVE amount of video from last years Talk Like A Pirate Day Party, and all of our St. Patrick’s Day shows with videos from The Red Leprechaun, The Queen Mary, and a special in-store we did at Fingerprints Records with a bunch of our friends.

Go to the Videos section and go check out all the fun new songs including two previously unrecorded originals, “Everyone’s Irish Tonight” & “Defend The Stout“.

Summer Shows

dp_poster_061513We survived the month of March and we have been busy resting up for the summer! We have some great shows lined up including dates at the BIG Irish Fair of Irvine, the OC Fair, and our favorite pubs like the Auld Dubliner, Shenanigan’s, and Gallagher’s! Make sure to catch us at your favorite venue this summer. Check out our Shows page for all the up to date information on where we are playing.

Road to St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is almost upon us and we are celebrating early! The Road to St. Patrick’s Day consists of some great shows leading up to the big day and some great ones later this month as well. We started things off with a bawdy show at The Shamrock in Murrieta and continue down the road to play back-to-back shows at Muldoon’s on Friday, March 8th and then our first time at Gallagher’s Pub in Long Beach on Saturday, March 9th.

Leading into St. Patrick’s Day weekend we have a special in-store performance at Fingerprints music store on Wednesday, March 13th. This will be a special show with some great surprises so bring the family and start the celebration early. There will be Guinness specials, giveaways, traditional food, and good times!

We play all St. Patrick’s Day weekend starting Friday at the Red Leprechaun starting at 7pm then Saturday, March 16th we make a stop aboard the Queen Mary for the Shamrock & Roll show kicking things off from 7pm-8pm then we skip across the pond to finish the night out at the Auld Dubliner at 10pm. On St. Patrick’s Day we will be setting up shop at one of our very favorite places to play; Shenanigan’s Irish Pub! We will be there starting at 2pm and play 2 full 4 hour sets keeping the craic going ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT!

To round out the month we play shows at Muldoon’s on March 24th, The Auld Dubliner on March 29th, and the Tam O’Shanter March 30th!

Athbhliain faoi mhaise dhuit!

It’s over! 2012 was a great year for us and we played some amazing shows for even better people and we are continuing to improve our show and keep you on your toes dancin’ and singin’ along! We have a brand new venue we will be playing at this Saturday, and hopefully many nights to come, called the Red Leprechaun! It’s a great family-friendly place with amazing food and a warm atmosphere. We will be playing an early set from 7pm to 10pm which is PERFECT to bring the kids out for dinner and stay for a proper Irish Sing-Along! We will have wee song books for everyone to join in on some of our favorite tunes.

Review Of Our Album By Celtic Music Magazine

We recently released our new album and Catherine Tully of Celtic Music Magazine was kind enough to give it a listen and let everyone know what she thinks! Give it a read and pass the album on to a friend!

We Hit The Streets For Long Beach’s Buskerfest!

We are very excited and pleased to announce that we have been chosen to play at this years Buskerfest here in our hometown of Long Beach! This is a great ALL AGES event that showcases some great local bands unplugged playing on the streets “busker” style for wooden nickels that are given to event patrons. We get a REALLY sweet prize if we get the most wooden nickels! Bring the family and help us get the most wooden nickles!! Here is more info about the event:

“When: August 25th @5pm – 11 pm
Where: East Village Arts District | Broadway & Linden (map here) | FREE & All -Ages

Designed to be the pièce de résistance of SAM, BuskerFest stemmed from the notion that Long Beach’s untapped wealth of extremely talented musicians deserved a unique celebration all their own. It’s a notion that, in its fourth year, was pretty well-founded. The fourth annual BuskerFest will close out Summer And Music 2012 on Saturday, August 25.

After a few BuskerFest veterans open the busking stagers at 5 p.m., nearly a dozen local bands will fill Downtown Long Beach’s East Village Arts District with stripped-down street sets. From 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., performers will play unplugged or “busk” for the wooden nickels given by event attendees. The band that collects the most wooden nickels will win a grand prize. The winner will be announced at the end of the night.

Headlining is Beachwood Sparks, Sub Pop’s long-standing country-indierock band making vintage Laurel Canyon sounds for more than a decade. Taking a break from recording their second full-length, Long Beach’s homegrown indie-rock band The Fling will be opening up for Beachwood Sparks on the main stage.

Before the headliners, Sea Funk Brass band and last year’s BuskerFest winner Wild Pack of Canaries will open up the busking stages, followed by performances from 10 deep-rooted and up-and-coming Long Beach groups listed below.

The night’s festivities will also include a fantastic beer garden, the TacoRog food truck and a post-BuskerFest dance in the streets with long-time favorite DJ Lithuanian Prince. As the event is located in the East Village, there are plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes to frequent between busking sets. Stage decoration will be handled by Gypcee Trunk Show.
